Some Words from Our Cosplayer:
What’s there to say that hasn’t possibly already been said? I am myself still relatively new to cosplay for the most part, I started cosplaying a year ago so I still consider myself relatively new to the game. Cosplay is an art, and like any other art to me, it’s something I aspire to perfect [or in most cases try to come close to]. It’s the art of impersonation and the art of makeup and pulling off a costume accurately. My usual activities consist of videogaming, reading Batman comics and drawing whenever I find the time to. Currently my most favorite games are Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Batman Arkham Series, Mass Effect, and Fallout. I loathe ‘Girl Gamer’ as a title. I honestly think that gender shouldn’t by default warrant for pride in an activity we all love. It’s like feeling so desperate for equality that instead we isolate ourselves with the title ‘Gamer Girl‘ and instead attempt to raise ourselves above our gaming brethren. So instead I’ll just say I’m just a gamer.
Cosplay is a strange thing. It unites us, it brings us closer together so that even complete strangers nearly have an intimate connection between one another just throughout the act of dressing up in a costume. It’s this same common love that we need to hold onto and cherish. In this same instance there’s something about the costume that can almost make you forget who you are. For people to forget that the real you is under there somewhere. Above all, love who you are under the mask and makeup. Like your cosplay, but love yourself.
Special Thanks to Miss. Kimmiecat555 For her contribution in GamezMentor.
