Some Words from Our Cosplayer:
For me, cosplay has gone from the point of hobby, to lifestyle. I guess you could say that it is the thing that holds each aspect of my life together. Thanks to cosplay, I have a commonplace where all of my hobbies and passions fit together. In addition, the community that I’ve ended up in is simply amazing. After all of the bullying I’ve faced previously, having so many amazing friends who share all of my interests and care as much for me as I for them is such a blessing. Also, the construction of the cosplays themselves has served as time to bond with various members of my family more, as they each give me help and suggestions when I’m making my cosplays. These are the reasons why cosplay is such a big part of my life and why I pour so much time and energy into it to do the best that I can.
Interview:
1. Tell us about yourself first…
Me? Well, not much to tell; I’m a cosplayer, photographer and I enjoy gaming and reading manga!
2. Tell us about your Favorite Game?
Favourite video game? Well, for me, my favourite video game would have to be a toss up between the Pokemon, Professor Layton or Ace Attorney series. I really enjoy the compelling story lines, lovable characters and all around charm of each of those game series, plus the soundtracks are amazing.
3. What attracts you to cosplay?
So many things; I love creating props and sewing costumes and being able to portray my favourite characters. The cosplay community is extremely encouraging and kind, and I’ve been so lucky to meet many amazing people through it. I also like how I can incorporate my other hobbies (like photography and acting) into cosplaying.
4. When did you start cosplaying and how long for?
I started cosplaying back in Octber of 2009. That makes this my third year of cosplay.
5. You are so young and yet so impressive in cosplaying what is the secret.
Wow, thank you! Well, I suppose I just put as much effort as I possibly can into my cosplaying and maximize whatever resources I have available. I just enjoy cosplay so much, so I try to do the best that I can when getting costumes together.
6. Your Hobbies?
Cosplay (of course), gaming, art, music, acting, photography and dancing.
7. Which cosplay are you Planning in Future?
Well, most of them are secret, but I suppose I can give a few away. Among many other cosplays, this year I plan on cosplaying Pikachu from Pokemon, and Flora from Professor Layton. Other series that I’ll be cosplaying from include MegaMan and Ace Attorney.
8. What is your Dream?
Probably of becoming a famous cosplayer.
